Kollaboration Atlanta
Kollaboration Atlanta began in 2008, representing local Atlanta and Southeastern Asian American talent. This upcoming spring, Kollaboration Atlanta will be hosting its fifth show.
Kollaboration Atlanta is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a creative platform for Asian American performance artists to showcase their talents within the greater Atlanta community. Every year, an audition is held to select competitors for a large-scale talent show that takes place the following spring. Since 2008, the event has drawn over 15,000 attendees, nearly a hundred tryouts, and widespread community recognition. As an entertainment-focused nonprofit in the Southeastern U.S., Kollaboration Atlanta has gained a reputation as the premier source for locally-based Asian American musicians, dancers, and other performance artists.
Kollaboration Atlanta serves as the Southeastern extension of the wider Kollaboration movement taking place across 10 cities, including Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Seattle, Chicago, and more. The organization’s overarching motto “Empowerment through Entertainment” embodies Kollaboration’s mission across the U.S. and Canada.
Our Mission
“Empowerment Through Entertainment” – this stands for a progressive Asian American movement of innovation and creative artistry in the entertainment sector.
Our Goals
- To provide an outlet for Asian Americans in the performing arts to share their talents to the local community
- To promote community involvement by working with organizations to provide entertainment-based support for their cause and increased exposure for Kollaboration performers
- To inspire Asian American youth to pursue their talents in mainstream media where diversity is often limited or stereotyped
Kollaboration: The Movement
Kollaboration is an Asian Pacific Islander American/Canadian (APIA/C) non-profit organization and movement founded in 2000. Under the umbrella of ProKreation Productions, Kollaboration officially became incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in January of 2006.
Kollaboration began in Los Angeles, but has since then expanded to 11 other cities: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Tulsa, and Washington DC. Every year, each city’s Kollaboration produces a competition in order to showcase local talent. The types of acts selected to perform during these shows ranges from musicians, dancers, comedians, spoken word artists, magicians and more.
