Kollaboration ATL 5 Audition Recap
Jan 2012 30

One of the most rewarding, yet difficult tasks of being part of the Kollaboration staff is the audition process. Every year, we set aside an entire day to meet, judge, and select the best pool of acts who we believe not only put on a great show, but truly embody the Kollaboration mission of “Empowerment through Entertainment”.

This year was no different. On Saturday, Jan. 28, all 14 staff members and volunteers got up bright and early to make way for an entire day of auditions. From singers to dance groups, Bhangra to electropop, we’re constantly blown away at how much diverse talent Atlanta has to offer. It makes the decision process even harder because we ultimately want to give everyone a shot at competing for the grand prize.

Nevertheless, decisions have to be made. After more than 12 hours of live auditions, another hour for video submissions, and more time spent in deliberations, here are the competitors for the 2012 Kollaboration Atlanta 5 showcase:

Bernard Park, singer

GT Qurbani, fusion Bhangra team

Purple Elephant Society, hip-hop dance company

Still Undecided, band

Kavi Vu, spoken word artist

Sammy Yi, rapper

Innonim, hip-hop dance crew

Emory Karma, fusion Bhangra team

(Check them out on our official Performer’s page!)

Congrats to all for making the cut! We’re excited to have you perform alongside our special guest performer (to be announced soon!) and last year’s 1st place winner, Adam WarRock. Our show will take place on Saturday, April 14 at Center Stage in Midtown. Details on ticket prices and the afterparty will be released shortly.

For those who weren’t able to make the cut, we thank you for auditioning and invite you to come to the show and participate in the freestyle vocal and dance competitions – winner of each scores $250!

A HUGE thanks to the Korean First Presbyterian Church for allowing us to use their facilities and equipment for the second year in a row. Major props to the staff and volunteers for putting in their time, energy, and thoughts for yet another smooth round of auditions. This year’s show is going to be EPIC! Year 5, doing it right :)
