Catching Up with … Kato0

Posted by Lola Pak

*In light of Kollaboration Atlanta’s pending 5th-year anniversary, we’ll be taking a look back to see where previous performers are today in their artistic endeavors. Today’s featured Kollaboration Atlanta alum: Kato

Q: So, what have you been up to since your most recent Kollaboration performance in 2010? Still rapping and performing?

A:Since Kollaboration 2010, I pretty muched stopped rapping to focus solely on production. I think it’s a better fit for me, and I’ve been fortunate enough to take advantage of some good opportunities. I eat, sleep and poop beats all day long.

Q:How has performing at Kollaboration Atlanta contributed to your musical repertoire?

A: Kollaboration was a great networking opportunity, and got me recognition in and outside of Atlanta. Got my YouTube views up too!

Q: What’s the next step for you — musically, professionally, or life in general?

A: The next step for me is to build and progress with my team of talented individuals, and of course… MAKE LOTS OF MONEY. Anybody who tells you they’re not in it for the money is either stupid or lying. I know the struggles of being poor and its a never-ending downward spiral. I want to be able to support myself, my family and hopefully give back one day.

Other stuff that Kato, aka Chris Ju, has been up to lately:

  • Got signed to a management/production deal with former manager of Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Waka Flocka, Gucci Mane, etc.
  • Collaborated on a remix with Kalenna of Diddy-Dirty Money for a single I produced titled “Justin Bieber” (for video, click here)
  • Releasing my mixtape – T.I.M.E. Vol. 3, all produced by me, with 16 special guest artists (Download here)
  • Currently producing an entire project for Atlanta native, Jarren Benton.
