On Wed. Oct 27, the Kollaboration Atlanta staff was invited to a screening for “Vincent Who?”, a documentary created by renowned producer, Curtis Chin. The short film conveyed the true story of Vincent Chin, an innocent man who was brutally murdered by two racist men because of his Asian identity. These men also never served a single day in prison for their wrongdoings. Despite this horrific incident, one of the first Asian-American identity and civil rights movement emerged. Read more
The PR team of Kollaboration Atlanta attended the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Atlanta’s monthly N3 networking night on Thursday, October 21st at Uncle Julio’s in Perimeter. Sponsored by Kimberly-Clark, the event gave professionals from multiple fields an opportunity to network and share common interests in a casual setting. Attendees mingled on the patio and enjoyed Mexican hors d’oeuvres, and representatives from Kimberly-Clark were available to discuss employment opportunities. Offered to members and guests free of charge, N3 nights also celebrate members for their dedication and contribution to the organization, honoring one member that has been exceptional each month. As a partner of NAAAP, Kollaboration Atlanta’s team caught up with old acquaintances and spread the word about the upcoming 4th annual show. David Choi—the Korean American YouTube star—visited Atlanta on Monday, October 18th for his October Tour 2010. His tour around the east coast, which ended on the 23rd, consisted of 8 main cities including Toronto, Teaneck (NJ), Philly, DC, Orlando, Tampa, NYC, and of course, Atlanta. To support the Kollaboration alumni, some of our staff members headed over to the concert at Red Light Café. Read more
The Asian American Resource Center held its 6th annual Rice Festival on October 9th, 2010 at Stone Mountain Park. A celebration of Asian American culture, arts, and cuisine, the event promotes cultural awareness and the sharing of Asian culture with the Atlanta community. Organizations from all areas of the community participated, including local businesses, corporate sponsors, restaurants, dance groups, non-profit organizations, and community service groups. With beautiful weather, great food, and live dance and drum performances, the event raised funds for the AARC’s community programs in a lively atmosphere. Kollaboration Atlanta attended to mingle with fellow organizations and support the AARC. Along the way, we also enjoyed a picnic lunch and documented the event with pictures and video. Read more
